The Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA) is mandated to protect and promote the interest and well-being of Indigenous Peoples’ within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) with due regards to their beliefs, customs, traditions and institutions. The Ministry serves as the primary agency responsible for the formulation and implementation of pertinent and appropriate policies and programs in collaboration with the law- making body of Bangsamoro and National government to carry out policies set forth in the law.
As an inclusive Bangsamoro government, the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs (MIPA) envisions genuinely empowered Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples’ (ICC/IP’s) whose rights and multi-dimensional well-being are fully recognized, protected, preserved and promoted towards the attainment of unity, harmony and development among Bangsamoro stakeholders.
The MIPA is the Primary Bangsamoro ministry that formulates and implements policies, plans and programs for the recognition, preservation, promotion and protection of the rights and well-being of Indigenous People within the BAngsamoro core territory of their ancestral domains and lands, empowerment, social justice and human rights, cultural integrity and those rights and privileges provided for by the RA 11054 and other subsisting laws.
