MIPA, spearheaded by Minister Melanio U. Ulama, together with distinguished guests and delegates from various sectors of BARMM, mostly from academe and IP representatives (Maguindanao, Lanao, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi) were those who partook on the MIPA’s exclusive consultation and workshop for the Indigenous People. This was sponsored by the Institute of Bangsamoro Studies(IBS).

“Magkaroon ng edukasyon ang mga katutubo para maangat ang kanilang kabuhayan” says Parliament Member Ayanatin on her statement during the Consultation on Education in Bangsamoro early on Thursday, July 18.

MIPA-BARMM, one of the few projects, Tribal University, was given light through the established workshop and focused group discussions that aimed to generate insights as potential inputs for curriculum development of the proposed educational institution. This, said, would give accessible education for the IP groups, structured from their community, practices and beliefs. MP Ayanatin staff, Kevin Laveña, discussed relevant provisions on education in Bangsangmoro Organic Law (R.A. 11054).

Representative from Basic Technical Madaris Education, Rahib Kudto announced their agency’s support called for unity and justice for very individual in the Bangsamoro communities; “If one child cannot access education, that child is a victim of injustice.” , he stated while giving emphasis on the value of education and education for all. Furthermore, Representative Kudto, assures that the Ministry of Education will do its best to help the IP in their educational needs.

Legal Team Talks Over Proposed IP Code

Proposed IP Code was deliberated yesterday by the legal minds from the two parliament offices of MP Melanio Ulama and MP Romy Saliga. Each joint presented draft proposals then ruminated to reach a consensus for the final proposed bill.
